And a brief musing on A-Rod. Last season, I just buried my head in my hands when he'd come to bat in a clutch situation, hoping he could just get over it, get over himself and rock one. I didn't want to watch. I didn't want to hear it. But I came into this season saying I'd give him a fresh start. He blew his first chance in the 8th inning a couple days ago against the Devil Rays, down by 1, bases loaded. And he will blow others, but if he can be Big Papi 1/3 of the time, that'll add up to a bunch by the end of the season. And then he just maybe, maybe, might be able to carry some of that into the postseason. And if he does that, look out. This is a guy who can carry any team on his back (6 RBIs!), and he's not even the only player of value on this team. A-Rod just made me very excited for this season. Now the pitching.....
And who saw the crazy goal in the literal final second of the Bayern Munich/AC Milan match last week that squeezed in through the microscopic gap between the goalie and the post? Unbelievable and brilliant. Only to be matched by Liverpool beating the tar out of PSV Eindhoven (who were at home!) three-nil. Love Gerrard.
